Re: The Bat (1926) - PD? 16mm-DVD |
Thanks for the Information - that might have to be a purchase!
The Copy I have is completely Silent, as my reliable sources told me it was meant to be played in the Cinema/Theater with a live pianist or Organist playing along so I'd quite like to see a version with a new score.
NB: About Cleaning Solutions - I've also used Just water. Seems to work great - not a clue why! I tried it out on a film I had a duplicate of and it was fine.

Re: 16mm-DVD |
OK. can you use a white screen instead of the wall to copy the film? That should inprove the quality. I never done anything like this before. In fact my friend will have to show me how to run the projector. They have the projector and films and I can get a video camera. Another friend said that it will not look good. I am not going to pay for $$$ for these serials, so it the wall or nothing.

Re: 16mm-DVD |
Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on starting the 2nd week of Oct. I got everything screen, DVCam, projector film. I think I need to buy a headhpone to mic adaptor. I think the projectors, being old, have the old large head phone jacks. That should improve the sound at least. The DVcam has a built in external mic and my friends said that it picks up sound well.
ANY STEP BY STEP ADVISE INSTRUCTIONS YOU CAN THINK TO IMPROVE WILL BE HELPFUL. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE ASSISTANCE.

Re: 16mm-DVD |
Watch out with running 16mm through a projector, you could very easily mess up your film if the projector is in less than perfect shape. If you must, then get a manual feed so you can thread yourself. Auto feeds, if the leader is not in tip top shape, can get stuck half way through and the mechanism is very unforgiving, it will keep feeding the film and it will scrunch up the film inside the projector. Once that happens, the film is rendered useless. If you are trying to DIY at home transfer using a projector, you'll either get the flicker, or if you have a 5blade 24 frames per second projector, everyone will be running around very fast and unnaturally, you'll also, depending on the camera you are using to video tape, a loss in the original quality. Even some of the lenses will give you less quality than what the original film looks like. The only way to go is scanning from the gate, no projection, no lenses, mirrors. Even if you go with a 'professional' transfer company, most are just transferring like you would try at home, you must vouch the company and ask for a video seeing the professional equipment in action like this company below.

Re: 16mm-DVD |
I read there is software to remove the flicker. Anyways my friend machine is shot. And the project is on hold until I find 16mm projector. And if I wanted to go profession it would cost too much and they would refuse to do w/o proof the film is in Pulbic domain.
BTW 5 blade 24 frames/sec. I understand that the frames are different. I guessing software would change that.
